Default GW Money statistics

I was curious.

Are there any new statistics from Anet on the money that most people have in the game.
I'm just curious i have a total of 225platinum and 672Gold in storage and 4 characters with all 10K allowance, and i consider myself poor.
I heard of people with 500Platinum+ and even over a miljoen(s).
Even heard of and seen a person with 7 characters and 6 of the characters have obsidian armor all black dye and even the best weapons and enough money and matetials 2 do it again.
How is that possible without buying Online money.
I've played since the beginning, even had a taste of the world before the they changed the Farming stuff.
And can even tip the skale of that amount of money
Enlight me plz. ^^

Ahhhhh i understand i have 2 say my weapons and focus items are all from the weapon smith in buckdek byway from factions. My MM has a wayward wand and my fire ele has a windcather and my paragon a forgotten spear, the rest all have Purple items.
I have 2 say they should make a list of statistics some time soon @ Anet.
And make a deathsentace for all those who sell online money or for the ones who buy it ^^. just kidding
You know what i mean right.

Before Nightfall came out I had approximately 250k between my (personal) 2 accounts. My fiance had maybe....25k between his (personal) 2 accounts. So between 4 accounts we had about 275k, which we use to equip 40 various characters. In all honesty, when you have this many characters, even if you don't build them all at the same time, this tiny amount doesn't go far.

At this time, my fiance and I have about 30-40k between us. Most of our money goes for capture sigs, if anyone is wondering. But the normal expenses of decent weapons, the occassional key or two for chest, and armor does add up.

More than likely the people with millions of gold either a) bought it online and won't admit to it, b) never buy anything and have been playing since the beginng, or c) farm their butts off. Part of the reason I had as much gold as I did (in the 6 months I've been playing) is because I did one 10k farm run a day almost religiously for a while. I would still farm, but my minions seem to be stupider than normal, therefore I don't do it as much anymore. lol.

Two of the people I used to play with, but sadly no longer play as GW no longer holds interest for them, used to farm essentially all day with her hubby. They made massive amounts of gold, and it just sits on their dormant accounts, lol.

Wow...

I've never had anything over 40k at one time (and that's just recently I had that amount, and been playing since the game came out / own all 3 chapters. I constantly funnel money in to buying skills equipment (not from WTB /WTS either golds either) or going in to new character.

I do have an impressive number of skill unlock from pve only

I do have a friend that's close to a million, but he's a very smart farmer / good memory for price's and is on a lot.

They way I play more money = faster skill unlocks / new character development. Since I'm not in the WTB/WTS "perfect" item scene, and use the collectors to get weapons for the most part, I don't need 2-3 or higer digits of gold to do good in GW. That and never went after fow, consider 15k armor only if I have surplus... which is not often.

Broke most of the time, our guild helps each other so we pony up to help eachother. The most I have built up was about 160k in gold.

I don't feel as much need for gold anymore. I have more than a million just from ecto. Btw, I did not farm a single one. I haven't been to UW since prot bond was nerfed.

I deck my war out which is really the most expensive character but that's about it.

I really have no use for all the gold though. Just sitting on it atm until the next release.

My actual cash is changing so much atm...I'm saving for fissure armor through powerleveling, so once I get enough cash I buy another 10 ectos. Up to 120 Shards and 90 Ectos.

Meh I have some decent items as well. Rq. 9 15^50 Brute Sword(not nf) and Rq. 9 15^50 Dual Gothic, with some others also, those just my favorite.

Cash is hard to come by at times...so I say when the opportunity presents itself, take advantage of it.

I would say the average right now for someone is...around 100-150k, personal opinion obviously.

Farming is the slowest way to make money in GW. It always has been but for some reason people still do it.

Before NF, I was around 200k.
I've never held more than 500k in my storage in the entire 2 years of playing GW.
When NF came out, I rushed to the end with a Canthan born Warrior, got 15k armor, geared up my heroes, and went broke. down to 40k or so.

Then I started solo farming bossess.
I farmed 10 Deathbringer in the very early days of NF, and sold them for 25k each or so. My money was back up to 300 range.
After I soloed and collected many greens and sold them, my money was up to 500k.

Then the TRIPLE GREEN DROP WEEKEND came.
I already knew where my usual routine were, so I mapped out all the bossess I usually hunt for, and made a farming map for myself. The weekend hit, and I farmed like an maniac.

Farmed 50 greens during that weekend, but I got sick.
I mean, in real life. From lack of sleep and food, grinding farming like a moron, I was down and out for a few days.
.... But hey, I made tons of fortune off those greens! Even with the drastic price drop in greens after that weekend, the sheer quantity was enough to gain much wealth. I still have tons of those greens left, and they are equipped on my heroes.

Then DoA came.
I played DoA like crazy. Did both quests, and chest running.
Wait, why am I saying this in past tense.... I still do!
I first used four gemstones to unlock Razah, and rest of the gemstones I gained (I had 10 gemstones or so left over) I sold them all away.
If I need more, I can get them by simply doing more DoA.

So today, my wealth just hit 1M.
Even after spending tons on my new characters gears, runes for heroes, etc.
Most likely I will be spending craploadsofcash on keys this weekend, and warrent me another sick-in-bed days following.

Default My method

much like the real estate market I buy low and sell high. If ecto's are still 5 or 6k like they were a couple of weeks ago then buy ectos NOW!. When the market for ecto's goes up to 8 or 9k sell. Don't, DON'T DON'T spend the profit. Reuse that money to re-invest. Buy again. If you cannot find a buyer sell to the merchant you be sure you are making a profit though.

You can't get rich spending money. Don't buy anything you can't profit from. You will have plenty of time and the means to buy your expensive items when you get rich.

Every penny counts. Don't use expert salvage kits unless its for a run or upgrade. Use regular salvage kits to savalge items like collectables for crafing material and sell the crafting material to the merchant NOT the material merchant. The common merchant pays more for common crafting material.

It took me a long time to become rich and I consider myself in game middle class not rich. But to many I am considered rich. You can make 100k in a couple of weeks in pre seer just by farming low level monsters following this method.

Now for the big money! I was ingaged in a recent post asking someone to prove to me someone paid 500+ ecto's for a weapon they sold. Someone did and it gave me more insight into the extremely rich class of players in the game. The weapons they sell (I understand) drop in HoH and I never play HoH. Not yet anyway. So I think the fastest get rich quick is to play in HoH and sell those rare weapon drops.

A good opportunity to get rich fast is coming up in the Winter's day event. People will be wanting to buy items like mad. One thing I think will sell big is Spiked eggnog if it returns this year. Candy cane's proved a stable item to sell for a good profit at 1k each through out the whole year. My point, watch the sales in game to see what is hot and farm to obtain as many of that item/items as possible and sell. Don't wait for the event to end. I learned after the halloween event I can't sell any halloween items. You could probably sell candy canes and spiked eggnog after the event though for a good profit.

Consider eggnog or spiked eggnog. I intend to use eggnog for my drunk title but people will pay big bucks since a max drunk title will cost 2000k. You collect eggnogs for free by farming items the collector want thats a huge profit even if you sell at 1000k half price to get max drunk title. I be nuts to pass up an offer like that unless I didn't care to go for titles or that title.

Good Luck

Investing in materials, (especially currently useless materials such as Rubies and Sapphires before Nightfall etc) can earn a person quite a bit of money. Of course like any economy, investing in one thing is a risky proposal and should not be taken lightly. Many people expected the basic materials price to soar after Nightfall released and stocked up accordingly only to see no substantial rise in the cost per unit sold, it seems enough people had stocked up that the supply outweighed the demand and kept prices relatively stable.

I would imagine that many of the people who hoard a huge sum of virtual money have done so by taking advantage of people selling items for below their value and quickly turning them over for a substantial profit. Having a decent sum of money to start with is essential in that market, because you have to have the purchasing power to get the item (and even under cost, some things could easily set you back 100k+). Most of the Guild Wars players I know are quickly annoyed by the WTS/WTB system and will sell something at half it's value just to get it over with quickly. I myself fall into this catagory, I sold a Stygian Gemstone for 27k when I could've probably held out for 40-50k. So if you have the patience to sit there in an outpost, spamming WTS all day while keeping an eye out for others who WTS something at a lower cost than average, then you can turn a tidy profit. However just like investing in materials, each item you purchase may not fetch the sum you expect it to, and you may have to sell things at or below cost compared to what you paid depending on how the market fairs while you sit on the item.

Personally I've probably spent under half a million gold in Guild Wars between all of my 15k armors and currently only have 60k on hand to get Primeval armor for my Paragon, while I have known people who had hundreds of thousands of gold and all of their characters sporting 1.5k armors. It's a matter of opinion in the end, some people see having a slew of characters in obsidian and a few hundred platinum in storage to be the norm, while others save to buy 15k armors and slowly accumulate wealth through gameplay. As a member of the latter class of player, I believe that it's whether or not you enjoy the game and not how much virtual money you can stockpile that you should judge your experience with a game by (although I am aware that some people truely enjoy the "power trading" and such, and without masochists like that I'd probably have to sit on items for even longer when trying to sell them, so they're useful in their own right. If they have a fun time doing it, so much the better).

You see this is the problem with money and it's not just in GW either

Each class of people looks up the higher one and thinks their "poor" so they think that in order to be happy or to have things that they want they need more money so they don't donate or share money with people who need it.

What happens is a large percentage of people end up wanting more and even the people on top what to go to the next level.

Stop whining about what you don't have and appreciate what you do have!

Eh I kinda resent that statement Gaurdian. I am constantly trying to get more money atm by powerleveling as I stated earlier, to try and get the skins I want and some FoW armor. However, I have already given out over 100k in gold and then other items to people in just the last couple days because they needed something important, say armor for their character, or a pvp ready weapon.

I got my funds from SS/55 UW farming with a mate. When it came to exam study leave, we were able to do runs all day together.

Each run = 20-30 mins; Average 2 runs an hour...
Drops = 2 Ecto's a run EACH + other drops
Total = Around 4-5+ Ecto's an hour
Ecto's were 7k = 28k to 35k and hour + drops
Get a good 6 hours in a day = 210k a day + drops
So your looking at 225k a day average.
Plus the odd gold and rare skin makes in around 260k total a day.
Times that by lets say 14 days = 3640k
That's seems more than we got realistically, but that the total theroretically.

And it's easy cash, and cna be done while watching TV.
That made me heaps, which I sold to people for small amounts of cash.
Sadly thats all gone, so I'm stuck with 6.5k in my bank now
But I prefer the game now that money is alot harder to get, makes it more of a challenge. Plus HA and PvP in general has become alot more busier and competetive.

You also have inflation.
As "poor" people want to get better items and have no way of getting them, the "richer" people can raise the prices of items, so when they do sell stuff to the "poor" people, they get more money and the "poor" people get a headache.

Also salvaging everything salvagable is another way of making some quick money. It builds up huge stocks of mats, which can be sold in bulk (for a higher price) or used for your own gain.

And to all the "noobs" out there - makes use of the collectors. I started off by getting collector items and selling them to other "noobs" for high proces, due to the unusual skins or nice stats.

But I would say the easiest way to make money now is buy low -> sell high. Obcourse you have to have the money to begin with, but thats life lol.

Either way, the GW money system is slowly dividing = the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Sad for me cos I'm poor now lol
